JIMNY: 4X4 by Suzuki

Suzuki Jimny is a small off road car with 4x4 technology. We all know suzuki is Japan made and its fourth generation Jimny is going to lauch in India in few months. Lets know about the generations of Suzuki Jimny.

 First generation (1970-1981)

Models: LJ10 (1970), LJ20 (1972), Jimny 55 or SJ10 (1976), SJ20 (1977) also known as Jimny 8 and LJ80 (Germany).

Second generation (1981-1998)

Models: SJ30 (1981), SJ40 (1982),Maruti Gypsy, Farm worker 4x4,  SJ413/Samurai (1984), Ranger kitcar, JA71 (1986), JA12-coilspring version (1995).

Third generation (1998-2018)

Models: Mazda AZ-offroad (1998)


The Forth generation Jimny is going to launch in the coming months.  But now its time for comparison, JIMNY vs GYPSY

Gypsy:- It has been on sale in India since 1985 but due to the recent mandatory crash norms in India it is likely to be pulled out from the market. The length, width, height and wheelbase of the Gypsy are 4010mm, 1540mm, 1875mm, 2375mm respectively. The seating capacity of Gypsy is 8-seater but it is not comfortable as Jimny. The engine, power and transmission are G13BB 1.3-litre petrol, 81ps power, and  5-speed MT  transmission.

Jimny:-  The length, width, height and wheelbase of Jimny are 3645mm, 1645mm, 1725mm, 2250mm respectively. The seating capacity of Jimny is 4-seater only but it has more comfortable seats than Gypsy. The engine, power and transmission are K15B 1.5 litre Petrol, 102PS power and 5-speed MT/ 4-speed AT transmission.

                                                 
 The 4th-gen SUV(Jimny)  gets 6 airbags, anti braking system with EBD and brake assist,electronic stability program and traction control, autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning. Other developments  offer LED headlamps with LED DRLs, automatic climate control, push button start and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.

The expected price of Jimny is around 8 to 12 lakhs. It will be offered in two variants- the standard version and the bigger version.
